Workbooks Don't Work!

The key to success with teens is to approach the solution from a teens' perspective. It's not about adults trying to fix youth, telling them how to live, or showing them that adults know better. If it's about what you want, teens will blow you off!

It’s about helping teens take control of their lives and emotions. Help teens become conscious of their anger and learn how to keep their power by choosing healthy ways to cope.

What Our Readers Say About the Book…

In my class I am seeing more often the opportunity to RE-teach commonly held beliefs about “fighting back”. Sometimes it feels like a combat zone with all the negative energy flowing, so much so that all of the “ick” stops up my teaching, I know my students can’t learn when they are “stuck” in that angry place.

In Susan’s Book: Transforming Anger to Personal Power: An Anger Management Curriculum for Grades 6-12, Anger Management seems just that– manageable. She outlines a way to help your students and yourself get back to the business at hand, education.

I agree with Susan that these skills must be taught. She provides strategies and clear cut discussion points for every occasion. The book is an entire curriculum!… and it is best taught in that format. However, if that isn’t do-able in your district, this book is a valuable resource for “pullout” lessons and serves up a heaping portion of healthy empowerment for those teachable moments.

I recommend this book for so many reasons, but mostly because it isn’t “junk psycho – babble” it is real life. The book offers practical steps to improve the growing “Anger Issues” that have saturated the everyday classroom. There is something you can do, don’t give up or give in to frustration, let your heart guide you to take back what you love, YOUR class!

I thank you Susan, and my students thank you. Today I handed my well wore copy of your book off to my Director Of Special Programs, she is planning to speak to our principal about implementing your book as a guide for teaching a re-entry program back onto the main campus for students who have been placed in DAEP fro discipline. Hopefully it will be approved and implemented, then we will see some real change.

Once again, I was at a training and this book was on display. I actually read it at break and reviewed strategies that can used in the classroom. I also plan on using it with my middle school SON. Grabbed it on a whim and look forward to getting it and using it.
