On Person Can Make a Difference

Believe that YOU can make a difference!

Sometimes when we look at our world, the violence against women, the sexual innuendos in our speech, the degradation of women through movies and media, and the objectification of women through advertisements and TV, we can become jaded and discouraged. I believe we can make a difference.

Just think back to your adolescence. Close your eyes and try to remember one person in your life who made a significant difference for you in your teen years. For most of us, there is at least one. That difference may have been made by a teacher, a coach, a parent or neighbor, a minister, a counselor, or some other significant person. It may have been because of a single incident or conversation, or a long term relationship.

Now ask yourself, does this person know what a difference he or she made in my life? Many times they don’t. Many times the lessons learned weren’t even realized by you until you were much older.

If you get discouraged in your attempts to help your girls, remember this person in your life. One person CAN make a difference. We just need to believe we can.
